Beach Construction on Satellite Beach Leads to GIANT Sand Ledge.

The US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) are quote “nourishing” the beach between Patrick AFB and South Spessard Holland Park in Melbourne Beach.  Up until April 30th, a dune restoration project had commenced in the South Beaches between South Spessard Holland Park and Sebastian Inlet State Park. Sand placement is now complete in all areas, except between 6800 and 7300 South Highway A1A.

Locals in Satellite Beach have been vocalizing their opinion online due to the drastic changes to the beach affecting the natural habitat of the reef and wildlife. According to the Sea Turtle Conservancy, turtle mating season in Florida starts May 1st through October.

The 3.8 mile South Reach Project, between North Spessard Holland Park and Flug Avenue in Indialantic, will be completed between November 2020 and April 2021.
